Artist Shelley Bruce
Artist Shelley Bruce is a creative, founder, love worker and native to Los Angeles; with a mission to serve the world’s greatest challenges through art, spirituality, and community orgnanizing.
A Cal Poly Pomona graduate with 2 degrees in Ethnic Studies and Fine Art, as well as a training in Reiki & meditation, Shelley’s creative focus centers on painting, poetry, spirituality & activism. She has performed at countless shows nationwide, produced social justice events for 10+ years, founded and directed nonprofit educational programs, but most notably has traveled to Washington DC, San Diego, New York, Ghana, the UK, and Bermuda sharing her live painting. She published her first collection poetry On Blooming (2018), painting solo series Heaven Here (2019), and studio recorded poetry/meditation album Heaven Here in 2021.
Shelley is also the founder of the grassroots org Day of Healing (2020), that designs protests based in wellness to powerfully rejuvenate and inspire communities. In September 2022 Shelley opened the headquarters for her org, lovingly named The Heart Dept, in a historic building located in downtown Los Angeles.
