Frequently Asked Questions
WVZ MFG Publishing Co. seeks to provide clear, comprehensive, and practical information to address the needs of our roster.
-
Music publishing involves managing and protecting the rights of songwriters, producers, composers, and DJs by ensuring their work is properly registered, royalties are collected, and payments are distributed transparently. We specialize in handling efficient copyright registrations with Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) and Mechanical Rights Organizations (MROs), maximizing royalty collection, and providing timely, clear payouts to our roster.
-
Our Core Services include publishing administration (e.g., royalty collection, copyright registration), sync licensing (e.g., licensing, sync pitching) and brand partnerships.
Our Creative Services include music curation (playlists), content production (multimedia assets to amplify our roster’s creative vision, including producing high-quality audio recordings, promotional visuals, social media campaigns, music videos, lyric videos, and blog content), and creative partnerships. -
Our roster retains 100% of writer’s performance and mechanical royalties, master recording revenues and master sync licensing fees.
As co-publisher and/or administrator, we work together with our roster to maximize and manage copyrights in certain musical compositions. We are responsible for administering all publishing rights worldwide, except as otherwise noted. -
Providing us with accurate and detailed split sheets enables us to continue working directly with PROs (e.g., ASCAP, BMI, The MLC) and international collection management organizations to ensure your music is correctly registered, tracked, and collected for royalties worldwide.
-
Our team handles copyright registrations via PROs/CMOs (ASCAP, BMI, The MLC and more). We register works from our catalog on the first Friday of every month. We collaborate with our roster to ensure metadata for works is finalized, accurate, and up-to-date. We review and access song performance data. We partner with international collection management organizations to maximize royalties. We develop and distribute letters of direction to PROs/CMOs, and conduct effective conflict resolution as needed.
When delivering splitsheets, expect the following timeline to royalty:Registration of any new works can take up to three (3) months from delivery.
PROs/CMOs can take up to three (3) months to reconcile new registrations.
PROs/CMOs can take up to six (6) months from reconciliation to collect and distribute royalties.
-
This is more common than not, especially if artists have self-published or been signed to other publishers and sync agencies; however royalty fraud is also a point of concern. We develop and distribute letters of direction to PROs/CMOs, and conduct effective conflict resolution as needed.
When reporting previously registered works, expect the following timeline from your delivery to resolution:Letters of direction (LODs) can take up to three (3) months to draft from your reporting.
PROs/CMOs can take up to three (3) months to reconcile revised registrations.
PROs/CMOs can take up to six (6) months from reconciliation to collect and distribute royalties.
-
We collect the entire publisher share of performance, synchronization and mechanical royalties and distribute based on splits established in our co-publishing and/or administration agreements.
*If a roster member has their own co-publishing entity, they will receive their share of the publisher’s share of performance and mechanical royalties directly. -

True to its essence, WVZ MFG believes in the practice of music publishing as a service to maximize an artist’s profitability. We do not offer advances. This helps ensure both the artist and publisher are operating “in the black” and both parties are – and continue to be – incentivized to maximize the value of the copyrights for the works of our songwriters, producers, composers, and DJs. Through our suite of creative services (see below), our roster receives services in lieu of an advance.
