Jenna Camille

Jenna Camille is a versatile Washington D.C.-based singer, producer and music educator, whose music, as described by the Washington Post, “is a heady mix of R&B with elements of jazz, hip-hop and electronic music, and it evokes the anything-goes apotheosis of neo-soul”. A formally trained jazz pianist, she is also an accomplished songwriter and beatmaker whose work has been featured by outlets including the New York Times, BBC, I-D France and Washington Post. Her lyrics challenge ideas about Black womanhood, and her releases, such as her EP RED, tackle issues such as domestic abuse, mental health, sex, depression, social and political issues, and the challenges of everyday life.

The grandchild of a funk musician, Jenna took interest in music very early, and graduated from the renowned Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, D.C. before studying in the Jazz Studies department of Michigan State University as a piano major. She has toured as a pianist with Jazz-Spoken Word group Heroes Are Gang Leaders, and is signed to HipNott Records. Her work with DC-NY based electronic-R&B group, Golden Browne, won them a Wammie Award,-DC's premier artist award show- for "Best R&B Song." Her instrumental project, “The Time is Now”, was listed on Bandcamp daily as one of the Best Soul Albums.
